Guided steelhead and salmon fishing on the Bighead River
The Bighead River runs north into Georgian Bay at Meaford. It is the one river on our list that is not a Lake Ontario tributary, and that is exactly why it is on the list.
Steelhead run the Bighead in spring and again in fall, and salmon come in with the fall. Because it drains a different watershed into a different lake, it does not always rise, clear or fill with anglers at the same time as the Credit and Bronte — which makes it a genuine alternative rather than a copy.
Every trip is walk and wade. You will be in the river on foot, moving between runs and learning to read the water as you go.

Seasons and regulations
Steelhead — spring, March through May, and fall through December 31.
Salmon — fall only, through November 15.
Georgian Bay tributaries carry their own seasons and section rules, separate from the Lake Ontario rivers. This is not water to guess on.
Open seasons, sanctuary stretches and special rules vary by river and by section, and they change. Always check the current Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary for the water you are fishing. On a guided day, Sasha picks water that is legally open and in shape for the conditions.
We do not publish specific pools, runs or access points. That is deliberate — the water Sasha relies on stays fishable because it is not broadcast. You will learn it on the river.
